Job Title: Market Lead

Reports to: Petals Bradley, Owner

Job purpose + Commitment

This role involves leading one of our Saturday Farmers Markets, taking ownership of setup, sales, and customer engagement.

Time Commitment:

  • Saturdays: 7:00 AM – 1:30 PM (Alpharetta Farmers Market)

  • One Sunday per Month: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Grant Park Farmers Market)

  • Thursday or Friday Prep (Flexible): 1-2 hours to mix beverages and restock market gear

Woodland Wellness currently operates at three markets: Peachtree Road (Saturdays), Alpharetta (Saturdays), and Grant Park (Sundays). This will be our second season at Alpharetta, where we've built a wonderful community.

Location & Travel Considerations

Our Market Lead will primarily manage the Alpharetta Farmers Market (Saturdays) and Grant Park Farmers Market (1x/month) but may occasionally be asked to cover our Peachtree Road location or festivals/events when needed.

If you live outside of Alpharetta or Atlanta, please consider factors like travel time, early mornings, and fuel costs before applying. We want to ensure this role is a great fit for you logistically!

Schedule & Responsibilities

5 Market Shifts per Month (1 shift includes prep, market day, and post-market tasks):

  • Thursday or Friday:

    • Pack your car with all market gear

    • Thaw beverage concentrates and blend Golden Milk to prep for market day

  • Saturday Morning (Market Day):

    • Pack frozen and refrigerated items into your car, heat any hot beverages, and head to the market

    • Upon arrival, set up the tent, tables, and display gear

    • Once the market opens, a Market Support Staff member will join you to assist with sales.

  • Engagement & Sales:

    • Serve as an advocate for holistic health, an ambassador of medicinal herbs, and a representative of our brand, mission, and products.

    • Guide customers toward products that best support their needs with genuine, educational conversations—not pushy sales tactics.

    • Passion for holistic health and/or herbalism is essential for this role.

  • Post-Market Responsibilities:

    • Work with the Support Staff to break down the booth and pack everything into your car

    • Unload gear into your storage space at home and clean beverage dispensers

  • Inventory & Restocking:

    • Perform a bi-weekly inventory check of market supplies (~15 minutes)

    • Coordinate with Petals for supply hand-offs at a mutually convenient location

This role is deeply rewarding for those passionate about holistic health, community engagement, and meaningful customer connections. If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you on board!

Qualifications

Our Market Lead must have a reliable SUV capable of transporting market gear and storage space at home (such as a garage or extra room) to accommodate a metal storage rack, a standard fridge, and a stand-up freezer (all provided by us). If you’re unsure whether your space or vehicle are suitable, please reach out!

This position requires a minimum commitment through the end of the 2024 season (November), with the intention of finding a long-term team member for many seasons to come. Please review the following Qualifications & Working Conditions carefully to ensure you meet them before applying.

Core Qualifications:

  • Experience (professional or personal) in customer service, strong organizational skills, and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Thoughtful, kind, and clear communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively while also demonstrating leadership, initiative, and self-sufficiency

  • Integrity, reliability, and maturity, with a strong work ethic

  • A problem-solving mindset and a "can-do" attitude—while we have a smooth setup, adaptability is key!

Industry Knowledge & Passion:

  • Passion, knowledge, and/or experience in health, wellness, or herbalism

  • Formal training in these fields is a plus, but self-study and genuine enthusiasm are equally valued.

Work Style & Communication:

  • Highly organized with attention to detail and efficiency in daily tasks

  • While this is technically a customer service role, it is far more fulfilling and engaging than typical customer service positions.

  • Clear, confident, and thoughtful communication is essential - both with our internal team and our market community.

As a growing small business, we seek dedicated team members who align with our vision and are excited to grow alongside us.

Working conditions + Physical Requirements

During each market, you will be outdoors and on your feet. The weather varies, so you’ll want to always check the radar. We provide a fan and heaters for hot or cold days.

You will be required to lift heavy items like full coolers and handle equipment responsibly. Applicants should be physically able to lift a 50 lb box, or full 5 gal bucket. You will be working with hot broth and valuable products, so you must be confident working with your hands and maintaining a steady pace and concentration to ensure safety for yourself and our products.

We value a positive and uplifting work environment, with the perfect balance of professionality and personality. We value a good sense of humor, light heartedness and a desire to learn while working hard. We strive to keep our time at work both fun yet focused, prioritizing enjoyment of each moment throughout our days!

Scheduling

This position requires a commitment to working every Saturday morning, ensuring you are well-rested and prepared. However, we understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexibility, allowing you to request up to 15% of your total shifts off per season.

For the Alpharetta Farmers Market (April–November), there are approximately 32 market shifts, meaning you may request up to 5 Saturdays off per year. Requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance and will be approved based on scheduling and team availability. The earlier you submit a request, the better the chances of accommodation.

Sunday shifts are flexible and will be coordinated between you and our Grant Park Market Lead, allowing her one Sunday off per month, as she works both Saturdays and Sundays.

Compensation

Flat Rate: $150 per market shift plus tips

  • This equates to approximately $15/hr, covering market day (Saturday), Friday prep, and additional small tasks (e.g., product hand-offs, bi-weekly inventory, and maintaining cleanliness / organization of market gear)

  • Tips: Vary by day and season, averaging $80 per shift, bringing total earnings to approximately $20–$25/hr (before the end-of-year bonus)

  • Performance Bonus: Up to 25% of total payroll, based on market sales and seasonal goals, raising the average pay to approximately $24–$29/hr

Additional Perks

  • Join an incredible team & community of like-minded individuals.

  • Gain valuable knowledge in Holistic Health through monthly Synergy Sessions (paid, 1-hour educational lectures).

  • Enjoy highly discounted Woodland Wellness products.
